Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Pinguiino collects, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect what the marketplace needs to work, we don’t sell your personal information, and you can delete your account — and the data attached to it — at any time from the app.
What we collect
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a salted hash), and your chosen city.
- Content you create: listings, photos, messages, offers, reviews, and reports.
- Location: your selected city always; precise GPS only if you tap “use my location,” and only to find your nearest city — coordinates are not stored.
- Verification data: if you choose free identity verification, our verification provider processes your government ID and selfie. We store the outcome and a confidence score — not the documents themselves. Verification is optional.
- Usage and device data: app interactions, device type, and diagnostic logs used to keep the Service working and safe.
How we use it
- Operating the marketplace: listings, search, messaging, offers.
- Safety: fraud and scam detection, moderation, enforcing our Terms.
- Trust features: verified badges, trust scores, reviews.
- Communications: verification codes, transactional notifications, and — only with your consent — launch and product announcements.
What we share, and with whom
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that operate parts of the Service on our behalf:
- Hosting and database infrastructure
- Image storage and delivery (Cloudflare)
- Email delivery for verification codes and notifications
- SMS delivery for phone verification (Twilio)
- Payment processing for optional paid products (Stripe)
- Identity verification, if you opt in
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of users and the public.
What other users see
Your profile (name, photo, bio, city, trust score, reviews, badges) and your listings are public. Your email, phone number, and precise location are never shown to other users.
Retention and deletion
- Delete your account anytime in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). This permanently removes your profile, listings, messages, offers, saved items, and reviews.
- Records we must keep for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, moderation and enforcement logs) may be retained after deletion.
- Verification documents are handled by our provider and are not retained by us.
Your California privacy rights
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law. To exercise any right, email support@pinguiino.com.
Security
Passwords are hashed, verification codes are hashed and expire in minutes, staff access to operational tools is role-restricted and audit-logged, and data moves over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure; report concerns to the address below.
Children
Pinguiino is not directed to children and requires users to be at least 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We will announce material changes to this policy in the app or by email before they take effect.
